Youth Development Programmes

"Young people need models, not critics" - John Wooden

We run various programmes for young people ages 11-18. All of our programmes focus on building connections between youth and mentors, and providing opportunity for youth development.

Early Intervention

The Straight Up Trust facilitates a number of early intervention initiatives within the Southern Dunedin and Brockville areas.

  • Life skills and leadership development programmes in Schools (intermediate school focus)
  • Youth Workers in Schools (intermediate school focus)

Rock Solid Intermediate

Intermediate Club is a vibrant and fun community, open to any young person in the southern Dunedin area in year 7 or 8 at school and run out of Carisbrook School hall. Most evenings consist of big group team building activities (sometimes involving field trips) followed by small group time over supper to foster connection and sharing. You can also often find Esther and Isaac at Carisbrook school on a Wednesday lunchtime and Bathgate on a Friday lunchtime.
